General Information

 

Cost

$88 for 8 week sessions. Due to holidays, some sessions may only be 7 weeks. These are $77 and will be noted in the class listing.

Registration
Registrations are taken the first day of class or may be mailed to the studio. All payments will be handled at the first class.

Refunds
Refunds will not be made after the first week of classes - no exceptions. Refund reimbursed with drop-in fee and $5 processing fee deducted.

Clothing
Wear loose, comfortable clothing or dancewear. MMDC is not responsible for injuries sustained during class.


Class Descriptions

Basics of Belly Dance
An 8 class survey of belly dance. Students learn several basics moves and see how movement and music work together in a short routine. Why not see if the shimmy fits? Students can transfer into level 1A if interested!

Level 1a
A 16 class introductory course in Middle Eastern dance. A more in depth introduction than Basics. Students will learn basic Middle Eastern rhythms

Level 1b
16 classes. Builds on techniques and skills learned in level 1a. Students will start to develop short combos that fit movement with music. Knowledge of Middle Eastern rhythms and music continues.

Level 2a
16 classes. For students with 1+ years of experience in Middle Eastern dance. Your knowledge of movements, rhythm and music will continue to build. Longer combinations and short choreographies are added. Class includes zills (finger cymbals) and veil technique.

Level 2b
16 classes. For students who have completed 2a or by consent of instructor. Zills and veil required for class. Students will add full choreographies in addition to an increased knowledge of movements and rhythms.

Level 3
16 classes by consent of instructor only. Zills and veils required. This advanced level class will push you in developing your movement comfort, zill proficiency and your ability to learn choreographies.

Level 4
16 classes, by consent of instructor only. Focuses on performance of Middle Eastern dance.
